19th century French Gien ceramic faience saucier with shell motif.
A beautiful 19th century saucier with matching lid made by the world famouse Gien potteries in France.
The classic blue and white colourway is so evocative of that part of France and a true trademark of the Gien design.
The saucier is decorated with delightful scollop shell motif on the handles and a finial on top of the lid made up of three shells to match.
The dish is in very good and perfectly usable condition with a minor hairline fault to part of the lid and one to the base of the ‘saucer’.
