Early 20th century Mother-of-Pearl opera binoculars.
Another piece of history which harks back to the days of frequent evenings at the opera, theatre or ballet.
A stunning pair of binoculars, beautifully crafted and covered in mother-of-Pearl casing. The binoculars come with a dainty chamois pouch which has a snap fastening.
The glass lenses are in great condition and the focusing mechanism works smoothly allowing the viewer to draw closer their subject of interest.
Its not hard to imagine a gloved hand raising these ‘jumelles’ to admire a pirouetting Bolshoi ballerina or shedding a tear watching Madame Butterfly die of a broken heart.
